Judith Monteferrante

Dr. Judith Monteferrante grew up in Queens, New York, to parents who loved the arts. Her father was an Art Director at Young & Rubicam. Many hours were spent in Greenwich Village and the many museums and parks in New York City and the suburbs. The appreciation for the sky, flowers and the world grew. Arts and crafts were encouraged, but not a career in the uncertain world of art. She chose instead to develop her own passion, helping people in need. Now, as a well known cardiologist, her office serves as an art gallery for her works as well as her husband's, a well-known pastel impressionist artist, Dr. Roger E. Salisbury. He is a plastic surgeon and Director of the Burn Center at Westchester Medical Center.

As a recent member  of the Rockport Art Association, she has won the Advanced Photographic Award for Excellence in Photography, summer show 2002. She has since also won the June and Gardner Marchant Award for Most Outstanding Work in Photography in the Spring group show 2003 as well as in 2004. She has also won the William R. Beal III Memorial Award for excellence in photography in the summer show 2003. In June of 2004, She won the Photographic Resource Center Award. She won Honorable Mention at the Topsfield Fair Eighteenth Annual Arts Show 2003.

She is a member of the Newburyport Art Association as well as the Greenwich Arts Council and the Greenwich Art Society, Inc. Her works were in the Newbury Art Association 6th Annual Photography Juried Show and the Autumnal Equinox show in 2002 as well as the 2002 Greenwich Art Society Holiday Art Show - Works by New Members, the 2003 Annual Spring and the 86th Annual Member's Juried Exhibition, as well as the Christ Church spring exhibition in Greenwich, Ct. on Spirituality in the Arts 2004. She was seen in the spring show in Marblehead as well. She was also featured in a one person show at the Sovereign Bank in Gloucester in August 2003 and was selected to also be in the Greenwich Putnam Trust Bank on Greenwich Avenue, November -December 2004.

She has attended the Nikon School of Photography and courses in the Bronx Botanical Garden and Photo Plus Expo 2003 as well as Rod Planck Nature Photography courses 2003 and 2004. She completed a Santa Fe Workshop on crafting the fine digital print with Joseph Holmes in 2004. She is a member of Stock Artists Alliance and a Field Contributor for Nature Photographer.

Photography has always been a love. Close-up work with flower photography has been a revelation. Intimacy with flowers led to further exploration including movement into Medium formal work. Spending time in Cape Ann has been inspirational.

Dr. Monteferrante's award winning photographs are shot in Medium format, giving the work sharp detail and translucent color not available from 35mm cameras. She uses a Mamiya 645 AFD and Nikon D100 digital with Epson 2200 archival printer and Nikon Super CoolScan 8000. Her limited edition archival-quality printed are complimented by design-quality framing solutions, including unique mat textures and colors as well as extraordinary frame materials.
