JACOB I GREEENLEAF

(1887 - 1968)

 J. I Greenleaf was born in Reval (Tallin) Estonia and graduated from the Vilno (Russia) Art School. He studied in Paris for two and one-half years. He exhibited at the National Academy of Design, Audubon Artists, New York City Mint Museum, Miami Beach Art Museum, Florida Art Club, Connecticut Academy, and was a member locally at the North Shore Arts Association and the Rockport Art Association. He was a designer of Christmas cards and contributor to many magazines. He kept a studio and gallery in Boston and his home and gallery in Bearskin Neck, Rockport.

The painting, "Lanes Cove" depicting an early morning summer in Lanesville, Massachusetts shows a magnificent view of boats at low tide.
